Below is a bar graph representing the relative abundances of species located at the third Straight River site.
We located a two very high density diverse populations at this site. Professor Wagenbach indicated that the first of the two was the most dense, diverse population he has yet to observe. Overall L. complanata was the most abundant species at this site, comprising 82 of 217 (38%) total live individuals located. P. grandis was also very abundant at this site, with 57 total individuals located. 5 unidentified individuals were also found. Another healthy population of P. sintoxia appeared at this site, along with fair numbers of other rare species, such as A. carinata and l. compressa. Substrate varied from cobble/ gravel to sand, with sand being the most common substrate, especially towards the center of the stream. The large populations, however, were located in mostly cobble areas, with a sand bottom next to them. Davis located 11 species at this site: our data is missing 2 species previously found here.
