Wildlife Rehabilitation: It's Role In Society

A report from the recent National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association Symposium
and a discussion of falconry, education, and release of rehabilitated animals
back into the wild by a student who has long been involved in the field.

Mark Hibbs - Environmental consultant working for Barr Engineering with a background
in physics and engineering.
Jim Reinertsen - Architect working on sustainable design for the Weidt Group.
Paul Book - Hydrogeologist working for ERG on international environmental restoration.

Adam Werbach was elected as the youngest president of the Sierra Club
directly after graduating from Brown were he started the nationwide group Sierra
Student Coalition. Werbach will be talking about ecojustice.

Ecology and Spirit

A new discussion group that will meet every other Wednesday over pizza. The
group will explore religious approaches to environmentalism, including discussion
of alternative theologies and a variety of teachings on caring for the earth.
Forum on the Effect of National Elections on the Environment

Third forum in the series looking at how last years elections will effect
the environment. Great panel of speakers.

Canvas the Neigbhorhood with Information on Sustainable Lawn Care

Canvas local neigbhorhoods with resident Northfielders to spread the
good word on how to care for one's lawn without nasty pesticides and herbicides.
One step in spreading the gospel of sustainability and integrity. Potluck lunch
to follow at Bridge Square.
Adopt A Highway
11:45 am - 2:00 pm ~ Meet Vans in Front of Sayles
Help clean-up the section of highway adopted by Carleton and St.Olaf.

Love Canal.

Prairie Burn
12:30pm ~ Meet Vans Outside of Sayles-Hill
Help oversee a controlled burn of a section of Carleton's McKnight Prairie.
Such fires mimic the area's pre-development fire regime to maintain native prairie
grasses, flowers, and shrubs. Quite a sight.
Earthday Celebration
1:00pm ~ Farmhouse
Music, craft demonstrations, work in the organic garden, food, folks - just
a general good time.
