Animal Behavior

2003 and 2005

In 2003, Julie Neiworth supervised an animal behavior enrichment program in which 12 first and second-graders met each Thursday afternoon for 5 Thursdays in a row to study animal behavior. They conducted demonstrations in class, watched movies of animals looking in mirrors and solving problems, and visited Carleton College's psychology labs in which rats, pigeons, and monkeys are currently studied.

In 2005, she helped plan experiments that 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders conducted at home with their pets. The group also visited Carleton to observe experiments with monkeys, pigeons and rats.
