Teaching Interests:

Introductory chemistry, analytical chemistry, advanced instrumentation.

Research Interests:

My interests lie in the area of sensor development, specifically the design of chemically modified microelectrodes and the development of new materials that act as transducers in gas phase sensing. Currently, my research group is working on the development of chiral platinum-containing extended linear chain materials. These materials undergo dramatic color changes in the presence of gas phase organic molecules. It is our hope that these materials will be capable of differentially detecting enantiomeric pairs of gas phase organic molecules. Our research has been supported by the Research Corporation, the Petroleum Research Fund, and the National Institutes of Health.
